(Annandale, MN)—Renée Cardarelle, a resident of Annandale, MN since 1988 and non-profit professional for 20 years, is proud to announce her candidacy for House District 29A in the 2020 election.

Renee believes strongly in giving back to her community and in helping to build a thriving democracy. She supports this work through community dialogues, such as the Critical Conversation series she is involved in, and one-on-one meetings.

“I want to see Wright County continue to be a healthy community where people live enriched lives. For this to happen, we need the resources that provide us with opportunities for growth such as education, job availability and sustainability for our farming community. We also need strong family structures, including available and affordable health care, childcare, adequate housing, food security, safe transportation systems and we need to take care of our elders. We live in rural Minnesota for a reason, we need sustainable systems that support our natural resources and the ability to use them.” Renee stated.

I’ve spent the past year looking at the systems in our community and I was proud to find we have a viable and thriving community, but we need to make sure we maintain this! There are too many in Wright County who cannot find affordable housing and who try to survive on incomes that are not sustainable. This is especially true for our elderly and for our young adults. While unemployment rates are at all-time lows, underemployment still plague many young adults trying to survive on wages that don’t cover the cost of living. Our families are also struggling as the cost and availability of childcare has become a serious concern.

We have a good standard of living, wonderful lakes and natural environment and good school systems. We need to continue to invest in the systems that help us maintain these important public structures.

Throughout her life, Renee has encouraged people to learn about and understand our democracy. She taught democratic citizenship at St Cloud State and is earning a PhD in Public Administration at Hamline University. She looks forward to continuing to serve the people of Wright County.
